LMCH OFFERS STATEMENT IN RESPONSE TO THE 2019 FEDERAL BUDGET - 3/20/2019
London & Middlesex Community Housing is elated to see the issue of housing affordability and supply as the first item in Chapter I of the 2019 Budget.
LMCH would like to thank the Government of Canada and the Honourable Bill Morneau, Minister of Finance, for their support and emphasis on this issue.
It is clear that the Government is aligning focus on programs laid out in the National Housing Strategy by proposing new measures such as the First-Time Home Buyer Incentive, the Housing Affordability Challenge, and the Expert Panel on Housing Affordability. Furthermore, the Government's announcement that it will expand the Rental Construction Financing Initiative and modernize the Home Buyers Plan are clear directives that the increase of housing affordability and supply for Canadians is at the forefront of their focus.
While this news brings significant attention to housing affordability, LMCH continues to highlight the importance of delivering new solutions in service of our current and future tenants. We work in collaboration with the City of London to solve our community housing and homelessness challenges and deliver on the City's strategic objectives of strengthening our community through building a sustainable city.
